Generally speaking, politics bore me. As a result, those closest to me are often astounded by my apparent indifference toward the individuals holding various offices in our nation's government. How can I not be concerned with _____? It affects me somehow because of some direct or indirect correlation that I should know about because of the Constitution and taxes and government spending and jobs social justice amnesty founding fathers immigration George Washington borders religion rights terrorism. AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my defense, I must say that just because I don't follow politics as closely as some doesn't mean that I don't care. For this reason, I have prepared the following rebuttal to any future accusations of ambivalence.
Monday
God bless America.

Politics in Anouchka's Week
Sunday
Someone mentioned the Arab Spring. I am now craving the Lebanese food that I get for special occasions and at family reunions.
Monday
Habibi and I went to see the movie The Debt. This movie is about three Israeli agents in the 1960s who are sent on a mission to East Berlin. Their task is to identify, locate and extract former Nazi Dr. Dieter Vogel -"The Surgeon of Birkenau"- and bring him to trial in Israel. (Pretty good movie, by the way.) My conclusion (and I think you'll agree) is thus: the Nazis were mean.
Tuesday
I drove by a corn field. The government subsidizes corn.
Wednesday
On my way to work, I drove past a construction site for a new medical
clinic. Along the sidewalk, I noticed about 25 workers, decked out in
their brightly colored vests and hard hats, marching in a circle. They
were shouting something and carrying signs stating that "XYZ Company
doesn't pay their workers fair wages and benefits." Excited by this
commotion, I called Habibi, who would be driving by the same
construction site on his way to work. However, when he drove by about
15 minutes later, everyone had gone back to work. He summed it up pretty well, so I'll just parrot him: That was either the best strike ever, or the worst strike ever.
Thursday
In the locker room at the gym, I saw that President Obama was speaking at a news conference. (Did everyone else know about that but me? Well, I don't have cable.) I didn't catch the whole thing, but I have included an excerpt from his address below:
So there you have it: my political week in a nutshell. I am an informed and opinionated American citizen. Now I must budget to overspend on foreign oil and fret about the (college) debt that I still haven't reconciled.God bless America.
:) Blah blah blah. Ha!
